Giovanni Trapattoni is one of the most successful coaches football has ever seen. Over the past 25 years, he has won eight league titles, a European Cup, a Cup Winners' Cup, three Uefa Cups, the Super Cup and two Italian Cups.

Trapattoni took over the national team from Dino Zoff after Euro 2000 and comfortably secured automatic qualification for the World Cup. He started coaching in the mid-1970s at AC Milan where, as a player, he had been capped 17 times by his country and won two European Cup titles.

Juventus was the next port of call. There he won six league titles during the next 10 years. Success did not stop there. He returned to Milan in 1986 and led Inter to the scudetto title and then the Uefa Cup.

His last success at club level came in Germany where he won the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, the first foreign coach to do so in Germany.
